Marek Cupák
I met Marek on the Delcamp forum. I was working on Mauro Giuliani's Gran Quintet and he was looking for some of the parts. He was also working on the piece and we quickly became friends. His honest criticisms of my recordings have helped me to become more musical and to see things from another perspective. It is not an easy thing to hear someone tell you that your Villa-Lobos sounded great, but your Bach....not so much. It showed me right away that he was willing to forego the niceties in order to help me rather than just tell me I sounded good. The recordings below speak volumes about his dedication to studying the classical guitar. Enjoy his work!
Bio
Marek was born in western Slovakia in 1986. He began to attend
local elementary school of arts at the age of 6. It wasn't until he was 18 that he started to study under a professional guitarist. After finishing 8-years of college, he began to study computer science at Slovak University of Technology
in Bratislava. During this time, he was studying guitar under professor
Jozef Zsapka and his graduate, master of arts Miloš Slobodník later, at
The Bratislava State Conservatory. Last year he graduated in computer science with
bachelor thesis on artificial intelligence (rudiments of neural networks). Since the age of 19, he has been teaching guitar at that elementary music school that he was not able to study guitar at some
satisfactory level in his childhood. At present, aged 22, Marek is mostly
dedicated to his guitar studies. Marek was very excited to share his music on my site and I am
equally happy to give him another outlet for his art.
