Bio
I began to play guitar at the age of 7 or so. I had a few lessons from a few teachers as I was growing up, none have anything to do with classical guitar. I started to become interested in classical guitar in 1990 after accidently stumbling on a transcription of the Bouree from Bach's Em Lute suite as well as a piece by Randy Rhodes in the classical style. I started to dig up pieces by Fernando Sor, Mauro Giuliani and others from the dawn of the classical guitar and for 15 years I taught myself to play them respectably enough. I was teaching guitar at Bach's Children Music School when I had the good fortune of being introduced to the Greek virtuoso Constantinos Jaferis and for the next couple of years, he worked with me on the gaps that were present in my technique and helped me tremendously with interpretation. Through his guidance, I was introduced to the works of composers from eras that I had previously ignored. He was and continues to be a very great friend as well as an inspiration to me. He has given me many opportunities to improve through performances with him. I also owe a debt of gratitude to Errol Putigna who I had the pleasure to study Flamenco guitar with for a while. His dedication to a very high level of understanding of the music as well as his downright blistering technique is a great model for the rest of us.
